Klaus Schulte
I'm a professor of controlling at the Münster School of Business at FH Münster, Germany, where I teach and research the intersection of management accounting and data-driven decision-making. My work focuses on how controlling departments can unlock insight through modern data visualisation — particularly with Tableau.
Outside academia, I build ventures at the frontier of analytics. At Apps for Tableau, we create world-class extensions that unlock capabilities Tableau doesn't provide out of the box — from write-back and self-service tables to KPI dashboards used by hundreds of organisations globally. Beyond extensions, we're actively shaping what comes next for BI and AI: how intelligence gets embedded into workflows, how analysts interact with data, and where the boundaries of a dashboard end and an application begins.
I've been active in the Tableau community since 2018, when I won Iron Viz at Tableau Conference Europe. In 2024 I was inducted into the Tableau Visionary Hall of Fame — a lifetime recognition awarded to a small group of practitioners globally. I share what I learn through talks, training, and the vizjockey blog.
